Jobseekers, including those looking for accountancy jobs, should make sure they tailor their CVs.
That is the opinion of Chris Morrall, director of Talent Transitions, who suggests that people are more likely to secure an interview if they tailor their CV to the job for which they are applying.
It is common, he says, for people to simply print out a collection of duplicate CVs and send them off to a number of companies.
Mr Morrall said: “The problem with 45 applications for every job is that probably 30 of those are not being tailored for the role. To increase chances of getting an interview, do research on the company and tailor the application for the job.”
He added that a CV could be bolstered by a person undertaking charity work or community work.
Furthermore, people looking for work could find part-time employment in the interim, which is also admired by prospective employers.
