People looking for accountancy jobs could find their search is being made more difficult by European red tape.
That is according to Keep Britain Working, which suggests that British jobs, including accountancy jobs, are suffering at the hands of the European Working Time Directive, a scheme put in place to try and bolster job numbers.
Katy Nicholson, spokesperson for Keep Britain Working, said that bureaucracy surrounding the pursuit of a healthier working environment was causing knock-on problems.
She said: "Protecting existing jobs can only be a successful policy alongside the creation of new jobs, with people free to innovate and pursue new opportunities to work free from the restraints of too much meaningless red tape."
Ms Nicholson goes on to make reference to the Working Time Directive and says that as Europe fights to return to growth following the downturn, it might be worthwhile "revisiting potentially restrictive legislation".
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development recently said that businesses are concerned about both the Working Time Directive and the Agency Workers Directive.
