Unlocking Britain's Potential –  A major event for senior decision makers ready to unlock the potential of their workforce.  21st February 2011

Who’s in demand – June 2010

The jobs market remains buoyant across the banking and financial services sector, and almost all those organisations who had hiring freezes last year are now actively recruiting. The beginning of the year saw the most opportunities in change management, finance and risk but the net is now spreading wider.

Compliance roles continue to come onto the market, and we are seeing far more opportunities in investment banking for control room officers at all levels, compliance monitoring, portfolio guideline monitoring and surveillance. We are also seeing more opportunities for compliance assistants in the asset management field.

The search for qualified finance professionals in change management continues. While demand for product aligned finance business analysts continues to be high, we are now seeing an increasing number of opportunities on the operations side, particularly for product aligned operational business analysts.

Equity settlement professionals are in demand thanks to the increase in cash equity business, as we see more clients bringing their relationship management teams back into London.

As hedge fund business returns, we are seeing more vacancies for professionals with experience in stock lending as banks feel more confident in issuing stock and there is a greater requirement for equity financing.

On the operations side, we are seeing a particular rise in oversight functions as we see lots of companies outsourcing the majority of these functions. There has also been a huge increase in dealing and trading roles on the buy-side with multiple organisations currently recruiting. There are also more opportunities for RFP executives and performance analysts.
