Recruitment agencies could be busier over the coming months after new research revealed that nearly half of UK managers are expecting more redundancies this year.
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) found that 43 per cent of managers feel this way, while more than a third of managers (38 per cent) feel insecure in their jobs.
Furthermore, more than half explained that they feel they are unlikely to get another job if they were to be made redundant – suggesting more will be using the services of recruitment agencies in the coming months.
Christopher Kinsella, CMI chief executive, explained that 2011 was "yet another difficult year for managers" and so optimism is unsurprisingly low.
"We started 2011 with high hopes that the economic situation was improving and workplaces would start to feel the effects of recovery," he explained.
It comes after uSwitch.com revealed that around two-thirds of people have suffered a pay freeze recently.
