Workwear bargains to snap up at the January sales

The turkey is eaten, the crackers have been pulled and Santa has gone to the Maldives for a well-deserved break. Christmas is over, but that is good news for shoppers as the January sales can finally start.

The January sales aren’t just about rushing into the shops and buying the first thing that you can get your hands on, just because it’s cheaper than usual. Actually, with some serious thought and a plan, you can use the sales to furnish your workwear wardrobe for the year ahead. You might even get some designer bargains – great for those of us in legal jobs and finance jobs.

Before you head out in search of your new work clothes, bear the following tips in mind.

Think classic

A neatly tailored dark suit that’s classic, rather than too on-trend, is a wise choice. Something you can wear for years is a bargain; something that has already dated is not.

Stick to a budget

Yes, you’re in the sales, but that doesn’t mean that you have thousands to spend. Set a budget and stick to it. If you shop wisely, you should get quite a lot for under £200.

Check the labels

You might be in a hurry to grab bargains, but make time to read the labels. Many shirts and suits are dry clean only. You’ll need to factor this in as an ongoing cost.
