Seaside recruitment agencies to get busier?

Recruitment agencies based in seaside towns and cities could be set for a busy summer, with the tourism sector booming.

As people flock to the beaches and cliffs around Great Britain, British industry in such areas is benefitting, with increased visitor numbers translating to increased takings.

With more clients to deal with and more money to be made, many businesses will likely be looking to bolster staff numbers – a trend that will be welcomed by recruitment agencies.

According to a report by Sheffield Hallam University, the UK’s seaside-based industry is worth £3.6 billion annually and is growing.

Professor Steve Fothergill, who led the team that produced the report, said the economic performance experienced by businesses along Britain’s coast was good news for the whole nation.

He added: "Leisure and tourism is a growing market. What our figures show is that, even in the face of stiff competition from holidays abroad, Britain’s seaside towns have been able to retain and even expand much of their core business."
