IT jobs affected by inflexible employers?

Inflexible employers could be preventing the top talent from securing IT jobs and other positions.

That is according to the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), which reveals that companies that do not adopt a flexible approach to their workforce run the risk of missing out on “reams of top talent”.

Mike Petrook, spokesperson for the CMI, said that the importance of attracting the most able workers was particularly important at a time when the UK is suffering a skills shortage.

He said: “Flexibility is the key. By being inflexible in terms
of the type of employment that you’re offering, your organisation
could be shutting itself off to reams of top talent.”

Mr Petrook went on to say that it was important businesses do not become preoccupied with the bureaucracy of their staff’s hours.

Instead, firms should focus on issues such as the quality and quantity of work being produced.
