Company employees, including those in IT jobs, can help improve the efficiency of their firm by offering advice to senior management.
That is according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD), which suggests that employers can learn a great deal from speaking to their workforce.
Of particular value to company executives will be advice on how the firm can run better at the lower levels, something the employees themselves can only answer.
Angela Baron, an adviser at the CIPD, said that the concept of referring to the workforce for advice on the day-to-day running of a firm was nothing new.
She said: "It’s a central plank of TQM (Total Quality Management) which has been around since the seventies for employees to offer suggestions as to how things could be done faster; how they can take some elements out of the process."
Chancellor George Osborne revealed in his emergency Budget that public sector employees who earn more than £21,000 a year will be subjected to a two year pay freeze.
