The snow and ice that have recently dominated the news headlines across the UK have given personal injury firms a welcome boost in business. We expect to see a call for PI lawyers from specialist personal injury firms as a result of the rise in the number of accidents.
Litigation and dispute firms are seeing workloads swell as a result of an increase in the number of commercial property debt management issues. We expect to see a rise in permanent recruitment in this sector as a result with property litigation a much sought after skill.
Many smaller regional high street firms, leaner due to the recession, are experiencing an upward trend in residential property, probate and family work. If this continues then numerous firms across the UK will need to recruit to meet customer demand.
Whilst some local and central government organisations are reluctant to commit to any hiring decisions until after the general election, many others are pushing to recruit permanent staff or retain contract and locum staff on a permanent basis. Areas of particular demand include childcare, planning, licensing, education and employment. Organisations continue to hire locums where a permanent candidate is not immediately forthcoming.
