Would legal jobs benefit from better flexible working options?

Those in legal jobs may find the possibilities for flexible working increase in the coming year.

More should be done to encourage flexible working – and this is a system those in legal jobs could really benefit from, if the comments from one expert are anything to go by.

Steven Overell is associate director for the Work Foundation, an independent authority aimed at improving the effectiveness of organisations.

He said employers should increase their offers and systems of flexible working because it can help various staff adapt their job to their personal needs.

This includes employees with youngsters who may need to fit their day-to-day life around childcare provisions.

And it could particularly provide a better work-life balance for those in legal jobs, given the tough deadlines involved with this type of career.

Although some companies are quite advanced in their offering of such schedules, more need to follow suit, Mr Overell explained.

“There is an awfully long way to go and I think in the future we will see much more adoption of flexible working,” he concluded.
