New supply chain jobs could be required after Debenhams announced that it would be opening a new distribution centre in North Yorkshire.
The retailer will create around 800 jobs when the unit opens in Sherburn Distribution Park, just outside Leeds, next summer.
According to the BBC, the warehouse will be 667,000-square-feet in size and with good access to motorways, Debenhams hopes it will be able to supply its stores with goods from next year.
Neil Dickinson, director of Evander Properties, told the news provider that both the area and retailer will benefit from the deal.
He said: "The major investment by Debenhams is an excellent result for the region and continues a successful year for Sherburn Distribution Park."
Last month the retailer announced that it would be running an internet TV channel to accompany the iPhone app it launched to increase customer interactivity.
The firm said that Debenhams TV would "solve every shopping nightmare" with "easy to digest, friendly style and shopping advice".
