New procurement jobs could be created by global networking firm Cisco as it attempts to get its supply chain back on track.
CRN.com reports that supply chain constraints have been a common theme for the company over the past year, with several channel partners claiming to have been given little support.
However, Cisco chairman John Chambers said that the firm is adopting an "aggressive" approach to remedy the situation, something which may result in more procurement jobs.
He told the news provider: "Supplier lead times appear to have stabilised but are still longer than we would like."
Mr Chambers added that it is impossible to estimate the effect of supply chain constraints on Cisco's overall business performance.
The company expects challenges to remain in its supply chain throughout the rest of this calendar year.
Meanwhile procurement has been identified as a crucial sector in addressing the UK's public spending deficit by Sir Philip Green, a retail expert who has been asked by the government to analyse its departments' spending to ascertain where efficiency savings can be made.
