People looking for procurement jobs outside of the south-east of the UK may benefit from the coalition government's new Regional Growth Fund (RGF).
That is to be inferred from the University of Nottingham Institute for Enterprise and Innovation's (UNIEI) UK business barometer, which revealed that 19 per cent of small and medium businesses think the fund will help boost regional job creation across the rest of the country.
Among business advisers, the number expecting the fund to lead to a more even spread of jobs between the south-east and the rest of the country was even higher, at 32 per cent.
However, some concerns were raised over the possibility that businesses could be left with little support once the current regional development agencies are disbanded.
The survey also revealed that in general, there is relatively strong support for the measures being taken by the coalition government through its Emergency Budget, with 34 per cent saying confidence has improved since the election.
But 57 per cent also felt that an autumn spending review would dampen the prospects for growth in their businesses, with 18 per cent expecting a significant reduction.
