A new approach to unemployment

The recession is technically over but for many Britons, the hangover is severe. Fewer job opportunities within the market are yet another factor for those people already facing barriers to work.

There has been a growth of demand in this area for candidates who can add value, particularly in line with the Working Neighbourhoods Fund (WNF).

Local authorities, registered social landlords and those organisations within the third sector are faced with an increased demand for employment related services. As their customer base widens and deepens it brings with it additional challenges.

There is an increasing demand for advice to address the barriers to work rather than simply signpost different activities. There has been a growth of demand in this area for candidates who can add value, particularly in line with the Working Neighbourhoods Fund (WNF). For some projects, the requirement is for candidates from the local area, who themselves are unemployed.

Other employers of Employment Advice professionals look for transferable competency based skills rather than just employment/career advice experience; an innovative way to get fresh ideas and thinking on an age-old problem with a modern twist.
